Accolate is an orally active anti-inflammatory agent that blocks the effect of cysteinyl leukotrienes and reduces inflammation (Laitinen LA, et al., 1998).

Accolate controls the underlying inflammation and alleviates asthma symptoms (Laitinen LA, et al., 1998).

Accolate diminishes the late phase airway inflammatory process (Laitinen LA, et al., 1998; Calhoun WJ, et al., 1997).

Note: Proof of concept studies were done at doses greater than those licensed for use in clinical practice.

Adapted from Laitinen et al., 1998.

Inhaled leukotriene E4 causes inflammation of the airway in a short period of time and which persists over many weeks. Accolate blocks the inflammatory effects of leukotriene E4 in both the short and long term.
