Over a period of 12 months, Bambec 20 mg (reduced to 10 mg if necessary) once daily had a marked beneficial effect on lung function parameters in patients with chronic reversible obstructive airways disease. Bambec was well tolerated.
Long-term Bambec treatment improves lung function in patients with asthma or reversible COPD

Mean (± SD) FEV1 in patients with chronic reversible obstructive airway disease who completed 1 year’s treatment with Bambec 10 mg (n = 10) or 20 mg (n = 95), once daily. Statistically significant improvements in pulmonary function (FEV1, FVC, and PEF) were demonstrated throughout the year.

The efficacy and safety record of Bambec were confirmed in the 54-month follow-up study, during which time 24 patients from the previous study (van Harreveld et al. Eur Resp J 1990; 3 (Suppl. 10): 114S) continued with Bambec therapy.
Bambec shows long-term efficacy

After a 1-month run-in period, patients received Bambec 10 mg tablets for 1 week, followed by 20 mg tablets thereafter. Compared with baseline, FEV1 was increased at almost all visits.
