In a comparison of morning and evening administration of Bambec 20 mg daily, evening dosing led to higher nocturnal plasma terbutaline levels with improved airways patency on awakening. Bambec reduced the diurnal variation in FEV1 values, and evening administration was superior at all time points, achieving significance at 07.00 hours.
Bambec 20 mg once daily reduces diurnal variation in lung function

Mean (± SEM) FEV1 in 22 asthmatic patients who completed 1 week of treatment with placebo or Bambec 20 mg once daily, administered in the morning or evening.

| Bambec 20 mg at night reduced nocturnal asthma symptoms and circadian variation in FEV1. Bambec improved responsiveness to histamine more at night than during the day, thus decreasing circadian variation: at 4 a.m., the increase in PC20 was 0.8 doubling concentrations, compared with placebo. |
